[Well, that makes one part of this easier, at least, and Ren waves cheerily to the prismal as they head off. There is still the risk of vines and poison, but considering Ren's been out here by himself with no weapons on and off for a while, he's confident enough that someone who's reasonably aware can make it back without much trouble.
At Gwendolyn's question, he tilts his head slightly, looking over the vicinity.] I've seen a bit of it, but I came from that direction-- [He points back over his shoulder, where there's a lot of shredded vines from others having come through, then points forward.] --and I was heading that way, so I haven't finished the whole thing yet. Have you seen anyone while you've been fighting around here?
[He might as well get that out of the way, if it turns out she's spotted someone who could use help in an area he hasn't gotten to yet.]
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I've been so focused on fighting I haven't been properly looking...there's no end to these vines.
[When you're doing cool backflips and throwing ice magic all over the place, it's easy to forget about having to rescue people. Especially since other people are handling it...like Ren, even.
But he's right in his priorities; what's the use in fighting off the vines if there's noone left to protect?]
But from this point forward, I'm going to make it top priority. Shall we search together?
[Ren waves a hand a bit, even if there's a slight frown on his face at the fact that he can't just be a bit lazy about this and piggyback someone else's efforts. He wants everyone rescued, of course, but this kind of long haul direct response business definitely isn't his forte. He's the type of person who'd normally be sending other people to deal with it for him while he went straight for the root of the issue.]
Mmm, two heads are better than one, right? We might find people quicker if we do...and if we find more than one, it'll mean not having to come back for one later. [Ren's had to do that a few times already, pass over someone until he could get the person he already had to safety. It's the logical way to handle it, but he doesn't really like the feeling any more.
That said, it's time to head on, he thinks, and he starts wandering in the direction he'd indicated he was going when he encountered her.] Let's go this way, then...hopefully there's not as many vines as there are here...
I've been diligent in wiping them out, so it shouldn't be too dangerous.
[As they're walking through, much of their surroundings seems to be frozen over in ice. Not all of it mind you, leaving some vines still crawling along surfaces around them, but much of the ice seems strategically placed to not only leave some of them trapped, but make it harder for the other ones to advance.]
Still, to think it's recovering this fast...it's surprisingly hardy.
Mmm, I wonder if it's something to do with what the scientists said...with our "chroma" or whatever stirring them up. Maybe us helping out is making it easier for the plants to recover too...
[It probably wouldn't outweigh the impact of their help, because it seems to have managed to beat the plants back to a significant degree so far, but if they accidentally caused it in the first place, then it would make sense that their continued involvement would make it stronger.
The ice everywhere definitely doesn't pass Ren by, though, and he looks over a few sections of it as they pass.] So was this all you, then...?
[She nods, looking around at it all. While some vines seem to be trapped because of it, it isn't making too major a difference. She'd just try to freeze the whole thing herself if she could, but she can't supply Gungnir with the energy needed for it.]
I'd seen how cutting through them wasn't having much of an effect, so I thought imprisoning it might be better...although in the end, I couldn't keep up with it.
They're moving pretty fast, aren't they? [The fact that they'd gotten so little notice before they'd completely taken over Level 1 had been testament enough to that. It has Ren a bit curious about where the plant itself even originated from that it would ever have a need to grow that virulently.]
Cutting them seems more dangerous, too, since it'd just spill more sap, right? So even burning them would be a better way if someone wanted to actually get rid of them.
[Unfortunately, Ren doesn't know the first thing about using a flamethrower, so he'd neglected to take that particular weapon offer from the Lunar Scientia.]
Yes. It’s unfortunate, but I’ve seen quite a few people fall prey to the vines discretions...it’s almost as if the more skilled a person is, the more likely they are to fall victim to it. It’s almost like an insidious self defense mechanism.
[Don’t think she escaped either. Someone offered her a chance to clean herself up and it really helped out.]
Well, if they know a little bit what they're doing, then maybe they're going for people who are going to be lots of trouble for them? It'd make sense to try and weaken the strongest people...
[He muses on that somewhat absently, as their surroundings start to lean more towards heavy rubble and torn-up street. It seems more likely that they might come across someone who's trapped in an area like this, and Ren's keeping a close eye out around them as they go.]
[Ren has started to slow down a bit already, but once she remarks on the situation, he ends up coming to a proper stop, circling on the spot briefly as if to make sure they haven't overlooked something already.]
Mmm, I wouldn't either...I guess we should check more closely with the street looking like this. At least the road isn't cracked enough for someone to fall through that...
[He kicks a bit at some of the ripped asphalt - the channels made by the vines here are either too narrow to admit a person or too shallow for them to have a problem getting out.]
